This error shows if you are trying to save your project in a folder backed up by a cloud service (iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive).
To resolve this, make sure that the folder is also available OFFLINE.
Google Drive
On Windows:
- Go to File Explorer.
- Open the Google Drive folder .
- Choose the files or folders.
- To select more than one, hold Shift and click.
- Right-click your files or folders.
- Click Offline access Available offline .
- When you save a file offline, a green tick is displayed next to it.
On macOS:
- Go to Finder.
- Open the Google Drive folder .
- Choose the files or folders.
- To select more than one, hold Shift and click.
- Right-click your files or folders.
- Click Available offline .
- When you save a file offline, a green tick is displayed next to it.

OneDrive
How to Turn on Files On-Demand
Turn on Files On-Demand to keep files on your hard drive and use them offline (it will sync when you are back online).

Open OneDrive settings (select the OneDrive cloud icon in your notification area, and then select the OneDrive Help and Settings icon then Settings.)

Go to the Sync and back up tab and expand the Advanced settings.

Under Files On-Demand, select either Free up disk space or Download all files.
In File Explorer, you can mark a file or folder for offline use or as online-only by right-clicking the item and select Always keep on this device or Free up space.

How to make files and folders available offline in the Dropbox desktop app
- Download and install the Dropbox desktop app, if you haven’t already.
- Make sure there’s an application on your computer that can open your files and folders offline. For example, to view a PDF, you need a PDF viewer installed on your computer.
- Open File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) and navigate to the file or folder you want to make available offline.
- If you don’t see the file or folder you’d like to save offline, open your Dropbox desktop app preferences by using your taskbar (Windows) or menu bar (Mac). Click the Sync tab, and check the box next to the folder you’d like to make available offline.
- If you’re trying to make a file available offline, check the box next to the folder in which the file is stored. Learn more about selective sync.
- Right-click the file or folder and select Make available offline.
- Wait a few minutes while the file or folder updates. A file or folder is available offline once you see it has a solid green checkmark next to it. Learn about the different sync icons and what they mean.
The file is now available offline and can be found locally in the Dropbox folder in File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).

iCloud
Work with iCloud Drive files offline
If you're about to go offline, you can download iCloud Drive files locally to work on while you're not connected to the internet.
On your Mac
- Click iCloud Drive in the sidebar of any Finder window.
- Open the file, or control-click the file, then select Download Now.
- Any changes you make to the file will automatically upload to iCloud Drive when you're back online.
On your PC
If you turned on iCloud Drive using iCloud for Windows on a PC, you can pin a file or folder to keep it downloaded to your device. Any changes you make to the file will automatically upload to iCloud Drive when you're back online.
Pin a file or folder

On your Windows computer, open File Explorer, then click iCloud Drive in the Navigation pane.

Right-click the file or folder you want to pin.

In the shortcut menu, choose “Always keep on this device.”
If a file or folder is pinned, you see a green check next to the filename in File Explorer.
